Feis an Gheimhreadh. Winter Feis 2009 Dear dancers and all those interested in Irish Dance. It is with pleasure that we at KSID invite all of you to our 5th annual Irish dancing competitions on Saturday 30 Jan 2010. We return to the spacious Adelbert College in Wassenaar just 20 minutes from the centre of The Hague and 10 minutes from Leiden. Added attractions will include a new competition 42 which aims to celebrate the sean-nos (old style ) style of Connemara. This is a new development and the Perpetual Cup has been kindly sponsored by Martin van Hensberg from Feisbase. Go raibh mile maith agat a Mhairtin. The parent and child competition was a huge success last year and really thrilled the audience. We look forward to this competition as it really celebrates the commitment of all those families who have supported the growth and development of Irish dance here on the continent. The Perpetual Cup for this competition will be dedicated to my brother Bernard who passed away during this event last year. In celebration there is no entry fee for this competition. During the lunch break dance schools who have Show Groups are invited to perform their show piece just for fun and practice. If you would like to participate do bring your music along either on ipod or CD. Finally, dancers and their friends are welcome to join us for a night of ceol, ol, caint agus craic ( not to forget some damhsa ) in The Poitin Stil, Irish Pub on the Herenstraat in the centre of The Hague. Top class diddlyi music will be provided by our visiting musicians from Dublin, Seamus Meehan and Mary Corcoran as well as a host of local artists. Don’t forget to bring your shoes along for a Klein Ceili and step about. For many in the past this has been the highlight of our weekend. This will start at 21:00 hrs Irish time! I would like to take this opportunity to welcome our adjudicator Michael Dillon ADCRG from Co Clare, Ireland. If any of you need any assistance with travel or accommodation or have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact us. Wishing you all a happy and healthy 2010. |
