      What will I Learn

Irish step dancing consists of two main forms, soft shoe Dance and hard shoe Dance.
There are four levels from Beginners to Primary to Intermediate to open Championship level.
KSID now has close to 20 Open Champion dancers. Six of these Open dancers qualified for
      the World Championships in 2008.
Beginners start learning the basic steps needed to perform the Reel, Light Jig, Slip Jig
and Single Jig all soft shoe dances. Having mastered these dances with good technique
and posture, dancers then to progress to learning the exciting rhythms of our hard show
repertoire consisting mainly of jigs and hornpipes.
All of this will take one year at least.

What do I need for class.

A good sense of adventure because you never know where the world of Irish dance may take
you as well as a good thick pair of socks and if you grow to enjoy the classes
the proper dance shoes can be bought later.
On a more serious note I do insist that kiddies wear shorts as it is important to see
knees and ankles in order to develop in style and technique.
