Recent Events. Holland Dance Festival. Show Group 1 and Show Group 2 performed at the Holland Dance Festival in November 2009 in the Spui Theater in Den Haag. www.hollanddancefestival.com This was a wonderful stage performance and experience and the first time this prestigious festival featured Irish dance. We look forward to participating in the next festival in 2011. European Irish Dance Championships. KSID is proud to boast that four of its dancers are current European Irish Dance Champions, having won these titles at the recent Oireachtas ( major competition ) in Bremen. These four will represent Mainland Europe at the up-coming World Championships which will take place Easter Week in Glasgow, Scotland. Congratulations and best wishes go to Denzel Manuel, Joena Rutchie, Xanty Nauta and Quentin Nauta. Well done also to all the other dancers who participated in the Feis na Eorpa having won many First Prizes in individual competitions. http://www.europeirishdancing.com Vakantie Beurs. KSID dancers kept the Irish Village alive and kicking at the Vakantie Beurs in Utrecht in January. The dancers immediately attracted large audiences as they began to perform and really added a genuine taste of Ireland to this massive event. We would like to thank Tourism Ireland for having given us the opportunity to perform at this event. www.discoverireland.com Feis an Gheimhreadh. Once again KSID hosted a very successful and enjoyable Irish dancing competition in Wassenaar at the end of January. The adjudicator Michael Dillon from Co. Clare, and Ireland was well impressed especially with the standard of all dancers but especially the beginners categories. Pure traditional music was played by Seamus Meehan and Mary Corcoran both from Dublin. KSID would like to thank the support shown by Irish dance schools from Belgium, Germany and here in the Netherlands as the inclement weather conditions almost made it look like it could have been a non-event. For a full list of all results go to https://www.feisbase.nl All Ireland Dancing Championships. Denzel Manuel and Quentin Nauta competed at the recent All Ireland dancing championships held at the INEC centre in Killarney, Ireland. This is the biggest event in the Irish dancing world and always an honour to come home with an All Ireland medal. Well these two boys did just that. Denzel won a Recall Medal for his Heavy Jig and Quentin placed 4th and 6th place in his solo dances as well as coming 8th place in the overall championship. Well done to you both! Please check the Performance section to see where we will be performing in the coming months. |
